FESPAD Conference: Creative Economy, Perspectives in Africa
The FESPAD is a cultural exchange to promote peace. The artists are the best ambassadors of our country. And the art represents a significant sector in economic development. Unfortunately, in Africa, culture seems like hobby, only. Therefore, for this edition, FESPAD wants to open its horizon with an international conference.

Background:
“Creativity”, in this context, refers to the formulation of new ideas and to the application of these ideas to produce original works of art and cultural products, functional creations, scientific inventions and technological innovations. There is thus an economic aspect to creativity, observable in the way it contributes to entrepreneurship, fosters innovation, enhances productivity and promotes economic growth….
This year, FESPAD, especially the Conference related to it, is going to focus on creative economy with the theme: “Creative Economy Perspectives in Africa” (CEPA).
The importance of creativity and innovation in the context of the globalised and extremely competitive economic environment of the 21st century cannot be overstated. More than ever before, during this period of economic turmoil there is increasing recognition that a large proportion of the new economy will depend how leaders succeed in supporting and unlocking people’s creative energies and capacity.
Objectives:
The conference has the following main objectives:
- To discuss concepts, methods and the structure of the creative economy;
- To share evidence-based analysis confirming that creative industries constitute a new dynamic sector in international trade;
- To suggest directions for policy strategies
